2011 ICF Dragon Boat Club Crew World Championships

Welcome to the 2011 ICF World Club Crew Dragon Boat Championships. We are extremely pleased that Toronto, Canada has been selected as the hosting city for the International Canoe Federation Championships. Promising to be a competitive regatta, this event will unite international teams to continue to push the boundaries of our sport.

Host Organizing Associations:

INTERNATIONAL CANOE FEDERATION (ICF)

The ICF is the umbrella organization of all national canoe organizations worldwide. It is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and administers all aspects of canoe sport worldwide. 147 countries are affiliated with the ICF  which overseas nine canoe disciplines including, canoe slalom, canoe sprint and dragon boat.

CANOEKAYAK CANADA (CKC)

is the governing body of competitive canoeing and kayaking disciplines in Canada. CanoeKayak Canada now boasts the largest membership it has ever had. Club membership has risen to over 60 member clubs across the country. The organization has initiated two recent programs to assist with domestic development: Canoe Kids, a program aimed at introducing more young people to the sport of canoe-kayak, and the Aboriginal Paddling Initiative, a program aimed at incorporating more aboriginal clubs into the organization’s membership.

NATIONAL DRAGONBOAT CLUB (NDC)

National Dragonboat Club is proud to operate the most active dragonboat training facility in the world with over 150 teams training regularly. Located within Sunnyside Pavilion, a beautiful City of Toronto heritage building, we are conveniently situated close to public transportation, beachfront cafes and restaurants and other recreational activities. Our teams enjoy access to the protected waters of the Humber Bay which stretches over 4 kilometres from Ontario Place to the Humber River. The Western Beaches encompass four beaches, three parks, three yacht clubs and one of the best dragonboat racing courses in the world.

A not-for-profit paddling club dedicated to the development of paddle sports, the NDC primarily focuses on the discipline of dragon boat. Our employees and directors are all paddlers and coaches themselves, with deep roots in the paddling community. We work year-round with, and for, athletes of all levels to achieve paddling excellence.

The NDC endeavors to make paddling accessible to all. We offer programs for teams of all sizes, including community groups, corporate firms, schools and individuals. We are dedicated to developing the sport to the highest potential in order to showcase Canada’s paddling excellence on the world stage.
